Have I talked ad-nauseam about quarter-zip sweaters this year? Yes, yes I have. But I may never go back to turtlenecks again. (Sorry, Shana.)
I’ve always felt like me-in-a-turtleneck was just not quite right…maybe it’s my neck length? My hairstyles? Whatever it is, it’s not awesome. But, these gorgeous quarter- and half-zip sweaters that are everywhere this season? Yes, please and thank you. SO flattering!
Why I’m Trading In My Turtleneck Sweaters For Quarter-Zip Pullovers
The reason I love quarter-zip sweaters so much? Besides being more flattering on me in general, the neckline on this style of sweater just looks so chic all zipped-up! Also, the collar keeps you warm like a scarf but without the bulk, AND you also have the option of wearing them unzipped for a whole second look. Versatile closet pieces are always the goal!
My current favorite super-soft, half-zip sweater is this one by Treasure & Bond from Nordstrom. You’ve already seen me in it a few times, and I’ve been wearing it multiple times a week. The texture, the color, and the coziness level are all lovely and just what I want to wear.
I’m loving it (and it even works well under my coats). The blend is a soft cotton, poly and nylon mix with just a tiny bit of wool (5%) and stretch (3%) in there for warmth and the comfort factor. I love a sweater with a bit of nylon and stretch because it really holds the fibers together. Ooh…and if you’re feeling like cashmere right now (who isn’t?) I just ran across this gorgeous sweater from their Nordstrom Signature line (some of our team’s favorite cashmere.)
Oh Hey, Ganni Rain Boots & Skinny Jeans!…(Yup, Skinny Jeans)
OK, and now I will rave about the only rain boots I’ve ever really loved. Yep. These Ganni rain boots are currently one of my most-worn pairs of shoes.
There’s a high need for rain boots where I live in the Pacific Northwest, but gosh rain boots are just so…NOT fashiony. I know there are plenty of fine options that keep your feet dry-ish in addition to the traditional wellies, but this fall I finally found this pair of proper rain boots that are also really rad to wear.
Bonus? They’re made with recycled rubber. They fit true-to-size in Euro sizing and I could walk forever in them. They are great.
Some of you are also probably thinking, “I spy skinny jeans”… and you’d be right. The past couple of weeks as it’s gotten colder, rainier and just blah here, I’ve reached for the jeans I’ve worn for YEARS — my black Madewell skinny jeans. When I need things to be easy, I tend to gravitate towards mostly black and those go-to pieces that I know just work. These are soft, stretchy and the perfectly faded black. I was stoked to see them back in stock at Nordstrom. They fit true to size for jeans with stretch. Wearing a 27.

As I was browsing Nordstrom’s site for additional sweaters for this roundup…um, it made me want them ALL. They have some really stunning options right now that fit this favorite zip-up category.
I guess I’m now collecting these babies (the first one that drew me in was this one you’ve seen a billion times this fall) and now I have at least three. Haha. Have you tried this trend? Maybe you are a turtleneck person, but even if you are, give this style a whirl! It’s one of the few trends I’m really leaning into right now. Happy Cozy Sweater Season!
