I had never heard of DAZE denim before, but came across the brand when I was looking for a more updated (non-skinny) silhouette of jeans. I had ordered a bunch from Nordstrom to try on (love their free shipping and returns) and when I got to the DAZE pair, I LOVED them — straight out of the box.

DAZE Denim: Flattering, Eco-Friendly & Under $100

I didn’t remember how much they were and honestly I expected them to be crazy expensive with a fit and feel like that. So when I looked and saw they were under $100, I was like YES. THESE. I also noticed the tag said WE DISTRESS DENIM NOT THE PLANET so I looked further into what that meant — and DAZE makes “eco-friendly denim using sustainable fabrics & washing practices that reduce the use of water, energy and harmful chemicals.” (And the distressing on their denim is really good.) So: flattering, comfy, eco-friendly and under $100? Now I want them all.

DAZE Sundaze Ripped High Waist Dad Jeans

First of all, I love their description of these jeans: Dad-style jeans are cut from not-quite-as-rigid denim that shows the scars of growing pains to finally attain favorite status among its sibling styles. Dad jeans, mom jeans, boyfriend jeans, girlfriend jeans…it all gets really confusing. But the most surprising thing about these dad jeans is how flattering they are on curves — way more than my dad’s actual jeans that I wore back in middle school. 🤦🏼‍♀️

The rise on these? Perfection. They highlight your waist without squeezing and and then just fall straight down from there –elongating your legs. When I first put these on, I was surprised by how soft the denim felt and how perfect the fit was right out of the box. It’s like jeans that you’ve broken in and worn for years…rigid-but-not-quite because of the 1% spandex that makes them so much comfier, but not the super stretchy stuff of jeggings.

So of course I wanted to wear them with my heels, but if I want to be practical and realistic (boo!) I’m not really going to be waltzing around in pumps all the time — as much as I wish I could. So trying them with comfortable –still cute!– shoes was a must. These Steve Madden lug-soled boots are SO comfortable (also under $100!) and I love that they give me a little boost in height without the sharp angle of a heel. They’re versatile, too, because they work with the jeans straight or rolled and would work with dresses or skirts as well.

Outfit Details:

jeans: DAZE Sundaze Ripped High Waist Dad Jeans (28)–Flattering straight jeans that work with lots of different footwear! (30 1/2″ inseam, 17″ leg opening; 12″ front rise; 15 1/2″ back rise) Also in a lighter, more distressed version!

t-shirt:rag & bone The Vee Tee (s)–I’m on the hunt for the perfect black t-shirt, and reviewers love this one. 100% cotton, super soft, and easy to knot at the side or tuck in…but the lay flat to dry might be hard for me to follow!

boots: Steve Madden Howler Bootie (8, tts)–I had to get on the lug sole trend and these are perfect without breaking the bank. Super comfortable and also in black!

pumps: Calvin Klein Gayle Pump–I feel like every wardrobe needs a pair of nude pumps to go with everything from distressed denim to colorful dresses. These are more comfortable than most I’ve tried and also under $100!

DAZE Straight Up Ankle Jeans

I ordered this pair of DAZE straight leg jeans after loving their Dad jeans so much, and they did not disappoint! They’re about 4″ shorter (27″ vs 31.5″) and the rise is just slightly lower (11″ vs 12″) but made from that same soft, rigid-but-comfier fabric that fits so well straight out of the box (1% spandex and 99% cotton). I’m actually loving the shorter length right now with all the snow outside — I’ve been wearing them with my Sorel wedges, and they’re that perfect length that shows off the boots without dragging in the snow. (But truth be told, you all know I’m waiting to wear these amazing sparkly booties after the snow is gone!) I love the wash on these, too…and that small amount of distressing is perfection.

Outfit Details:

jeans: DAZE Straight Up Ankle Jeans (28)–these also come in a black and more distressed version. I’m loving the soft fabric and perfectly frayed hemlines. (27″ inseam; 14″ leg opening; 11″ front rise; 15″ back rise)

t-shirt: ATM Schoolboy Cotton Crewneck T-Shirt (s)–I love the neckline on this t-shirt and the fit that’s close to my body without actually clinging to it–lots of t-shirts are too tight on my belly if it fits in my shoulders. I love the slub texture and the fact that it’s 100% cotton!

boots: Steve Madden Elaria Rhinestone Booties (8.5, run a bit small!)–I followed the size suggestion and ordered one size up and they’re perfect. I will wear them with EVERYTHING, but I’m especially loving how they look with just jeans and a t-shirt.

And I have to give one last shout-out to these booties — I cannot explain how happy these guys make me. I bought them at full price, but they’re now on sale for under $90! SPARKLES FOREVER!!!!
