An Unexpected Summer Fav: The Leopard Midi Skirt, 5 Ways

We recently got a reader question asking us to style up a leopard midi skirt. One of my favorite outfits from last summer included just that — so I thought I’d try my hand at a few options for ya!

The Leopard Print Midi Skirt: An Unexpected Summer Outfit Fave

Leopard midi skirts are all the rage, but seem to be selling out everywhere (and while we’re on the subject, the one I’m wearing below is long gone.) But score! I found one at Amazon for under $30 and it looks great, y’all! I’ll be trying it out soon, but the reviews seem good. The print is good, too, which I’m very particular about. Not all leopard prints are equal, my friends. Stay tuned for my review of that superb find, but in the meantime, let’s check out some styling options for summer, shall we?

1. Leopard Midi Skirt + A Red Tank

With Veja Sneakers

This was my favorite way to style my skirt last summer, and if it ain’t broke….I love red with leopard print, and the sneakers add that sporty vibe I’m always after. I wore this multiple times last year. My tank is textured, similar to the one linked below, but this one would work better for knotting in front.

With Dusty Pink Chaco Sandals

I love these sandals, but they’re hard to find this year. This ‘muted clay’ shade is so pretty. They have that sporty vibe, but the monochromatic look takes them up a notch. They are offering this slightly deeper muted pink this year, it looks like. And I’m loving the creme de menth or curry shades, too. The curry would be a great neutral (like my pink ones) to wear with just about everything and get that same neutral versatility out of them.

With Slip-On Vans (Maybe?)

Hmm. I love love these Vans so much; I try to wear them with everything…but I’m not sure…too much print? I like mixing prints, but maybe these are too close to the same size to work well. It was worth including for some versatility though and to show my process, I think!

2. Leopard Midi Skirt + A Linen Tank

With EILEEN FISHER Sport Sandals

A sandal this style is just continually versatile and a few of us have and adore these from EILEEN FISHERs. They’re insanely soft and comfortable to wear and are flattering, too.

With Adidas Superstars

Ahh, the standbys. We love our Adidas Superstars around here (these are on sale, free shipping!)…the magical sneaker that goes with everything. I really need to grab some new laces for mine to spruce them up.

3. Leopard Midi Skirt + A White Tee

With Red Heels

OK…even though I’m not one to dress up super-often, this might be my favorite look. I adore a good red with a quality leopard print. Granted, both have to be chic and ok perfect in order to not look gaudy, but a beautiful red suede and a leopard print without too much brown are the pieces I deem acceptable. That’s just me, but I do spend a lot of time thinking about such things.

With Saltwater Sandals

Easy summer sandals, easy summer look. Done. You might notice I find this skirt most flattering with a knotted tee. It’s definitely my favorite way to style to nip me in at the waist and make my legs look longer.

4. Leopard Midi + A Gray Tee

With White Court Sneakers

I love a heathered gray tee for making anything slightly dressy look sportier. This is my jam when wearing skirts or anything flowy or silky. And this is my very favorite gray tee. I have a post coming soon where I’ll compare some white and gray tees, but this one’s my favorite!

With White Birkenstocks

I mean, of course I’m wearing my new white Birks with this. They go with everything. They’re a worthwhile investment! Check out my post styling them up here.

5. Leopard Midi Skirt + A Graphic Tee

This look leans a little more hippy than I usually vibe with, but I kinda like it. I don’t typically love a tee with a longer sleeve, but when it’s tied at the waist, it’s way more flattering on those of us who are shorter in torso and a bit more athletic-shaped. I love these clogs, but I do wish they were a sandal for this particular look, I think. (Like these!! Swoon)

  1. You rock the white Birks so well! And I’m tempted, but . . . I grew up in/around hospitals and it’s so hard not for me to jump immediately into that Orthopedic Comfort Nurse Shoe vibe with white.

    • Thanks so much! I know, I had to get over that hump at first, too. But now they really freshen up an outfit to me! There are some Chaco slides in white this summer that REALLY lean nurse shoe to me, but then again now I keep thinking about them. Haha. #fashion

    • Thanks so much! The more I look at it the more I think I’m ok with it! Should trust my initial instincts. Haha.

  2. I love the red tank look, but I am having trouble finding any red tanks out there. The one you linked is already sold out. I wore my leopard midi with a black tank on Saturday for a zoom meeting, and it was perfect.

  3. I bought a leopard skirt last spring after seeing you in one in a post about what to wear on a beach trip if you don’t wear shorts. I loved it and wore it on the regular all year long (with a tee and sandals in the summer and with a black sweater, tights and black knee boots in the winter). This spring I added a giraffe print version.

  4. I love the leopard skirt with the red heels, but then, I feel as if I may be turning into Peg Bundy as I get older. ??‍♀️ You make all of these outfits look awesome! I love the suggestions you’ve put together!
