We’ve been shopping Backcountry’s semi-annual sale for a few weeks now — it’s perfect for outfitting the fam for some serious outdoor adventuring…which is the one thing that has SAVED me during this strange 2020.
Backcountry just announced a ‘bump deal’ where they added an additional 20% off to some of the big brands in the sale (The North Face, Patagonia, etc.,). This bump deal applies only to past season styles but we’ll take it.
NOTE: The cozy fleece in the photo above is part of the sale. Sadly, the YETI tumbler is not.
From YETI To Clog Boots & Outdoor Adventure Gear, This Backcountry Sale Is Good
Anyway, the entire mid-annual sale ends soon, so if you haven’t yet gotten your adventuring kits in order, now might be a good time.
My Backcountry Sale Picks
I’ve been shopping this sale for a couple of weeks now (you can find my previous picks in last week’s sale report, this week’s sale report and that one article where I tried on a bunch of on-sale technical rain/wind jackets).
However, I’m not the only one excited by this sale, so many of my previous picks are sold out.
So. Here are the pieces — still in stock — that I can personally recommend. The vast majority in this list are either owned by myself, a friend, or I’ve at least tried them on.

I’ve really come to love what I find at Backcountry in some fab outdoor & active brands like Patagonia, The North Face and Sorel. Some items I have from their exclusive brands like Basin & Range, and their Backcountry line have really impressed me, too. Below, I’m eyeing that The North Face Osito pullover, the amazing parka from Patagonia, that cozy seed stitch sweater, and that great cropped cardi. Oh let’s be honest, where I live, in the land of hiking and camping, I want it all. I actually just got back from a camping trip. Haha. #pnwlife

Now that I live in Colorado it’s pretty much a requirement that I own all kinds of outdoor gear. Hiking boots, ski gear, backpacking materials and a plethora of weatherproof jackets. I am still building my CO staples and was excited to learn that Backcountry is having an amazing sale right now! I have my eye on these Prana summit pants (that go up to a size 3X) and this Marmot sleeping bag, which I had tested out last year and is now on sale! I am stoked to add a few new CO staples to my necessities and to hit the trails with my friends!
Scotti’s Backcountry Sale Picks
You know what I’m worried about this winter? Laziness. Zack and I can both be preeeeetty lazy. And you know what makes it worse? Winter. Like bone-chilling cold, below-freezing wind chills and snow. So. Much. Snow. The sun setting at 4pm and Greenlea doing school 100% online only makes the desire to stay inside worse. So this year it will be even more important for us to GET OUT THERE, whatever the weather. Snowshoeing? Yup. Skiing? I can learn! Sledding? Of course. Heck, even shoveling . . . we will need to make a concerted effort to be outside this year, and it starts with the right clothing. If I’m cold, I’m not having fun. So this sale is a great time to grab WARM layers and coats and boots, even snow pants—oh and these gloves? Totally worth it at full-price (when I bought them last year), but they’re now on sale for 45% off. They are WARM, you guys.

Oh man, this Backcountry sale has me STOKED for our adventure year and all the possibilities it holds. (If you missed my post, the short story is we’re doing remote learning 100% of this year and hoping to do it from several locations to really make the most of things.) I’m picking up this 2-in-1 jacket for Lana — it reverses from a basic puffer to a plush faux fur that would be so cute with dresses or leggings (available in a few color options, too). Also eyeing these Free People clog boots for myself (somehow I always forget that Backcountry carries a few fashion brands, too!). And it’s not the most exciting, but two of the tech washes we use for all our wool wear and our rain gear are on sale, so we’re stocking up. So handy to refresh all the pieces we’ve already invested in over the years. Happy shopping, pals!

Can summer last all year? I don’t like the heat and often yearn for fall temperatures, but this year the word that comes to mind when I think of fall is ‘uncertainty’. Luckily, I can take my mind off things by perusing great sales like this one and thinking about wearing this cardigan while lounging and watching a movie with the family. I’m also dreaming of this fleece in the coral or rust orange for our camping trips — the only travel we’ve accomplished. Oh! And I’m also eyeing this easy dress to end summer comfortable and in style.
Xo,

Thanks for this post, I was just looking over new hiking boots for fall. Walks in the woods have been a sanity saver during the pandemic!
Is the color blocked (blue/coral) available at BackCountry, too?
