Birkenstocks got me through my pregnancy last summer. I actually never realized how versatile they are (especially in the rose gold color) until last summer when I was forced to wear them with everything. Every. Single. Day. I had such bad back pain that heels were out of the question, and most flat sandals weren’t comfortable enough to walk in. So I wore Birkenstocks. With dresses, with shorts, with surf pants . . . they were one of the best purchases of my pregnancy. And because they are so comfortable, I’ll be wearing them allllll the time this summer — just without the giant belly. (I had to tighten the buckles when I brought them out of storage because my feet were SO swollen the last time I wore them!) Here’s how I’m wearing my Birks:
5 Cute Outfits Perfect For Birkenstocks
1. Birkenstocks With A Sexy Midi Dress
This is the dress from Leith that Shana and I are both obsessed with. It’s comfortable, has flattering ruching and can be easily dressed up or down. This outfit is simple enough for daytime but still works just as well for night. I’m wearing a medium in the dress and could probably size down to a small for a bit sexier look. (I actually first bought and wore this dress during my pregnancy, so I sized up for the belly).
2. Birkenstocks With Denim Shorts
I’ll be doing a review on denim shorts soon, but OMG these rag & bone shorts are my favorite things ever. They’re ridiculously expensive (for me), but Shana’s been RAVING about them for years. The second I tried them on I knew why. SO good. Add a comfy cotton sweater and you’re good to go. (I tried a little something new with the scarf and tied it around my wrist — what do you think? Cool bracelet or trying too hard??)

3. Birkenstocks With a Mini Skirt & Graphic T
Graphic tees and skirts are a favorite combination of mine. Birkenstocks are a perfect option to keep the look casual and comfy without crossing over to the Dad sneaker vibe. (Although, if you’re into that, I actually really like these dad sneakers . . . .) The shirt is from The Home T, where they make super-soft shirts and donate 10% of profits to multiple sclerosis research. (This one is also from them and it’s cracking me up.)

4. Birkenstocks With All Black
Black on black on black. I feel like it always looks chic, and I like how the rose gold Birks kind of become the focal point on this outfit. This tank from Free People is one of my favorites . . . it drapes so nicely, has a super-flattering neckline and is $20. Yassss. (It’s easy to pull up to nurse in too.)
5. Birkenstocks With Boyfriend Jeans & A Fancy Top
These jeans. They are my absolute favorites (and have been for years). Love. I thought adding something a little fancier on top might offset the holes in the jeans and casual vibe of the Birks. (This top was from J. Crew years ago, but this one from Anthro is similar . . . and I’m dying over how cute this one-shoulder top is.)

I too grew to love Birks during both pregnancies..and now I will never give them up! I just got the waterproof foam type ones for a beach vacation and I loooove them! And at $40 they are a steal for the comfort!
Tell me about your hair! Recently talked to stylist about the Matrix pastels. What color pink is this? Soooo pretty!
I started wearing Birkenstocks last year. I can’t bring myself to wear regular flip flops anymore because i can’t deal with dirty feet. Birks are the perfect solution. Casual yet substantial enough to be a little more shoe-like. I love the rose gold. I have the metallic snakeskin in the Gizeh style. The classic double strap ones are always a little too wide for me, but I’m definitely going to check out the narrows. Love all of these suggestions! And really love your pink hair!!!
Scotti, I can only imagine some magical summer land where I could wear jeans! It is a rare day in the late spring when jeans are better than shorts in VA. Even so, this is so helpful! My beloved pair of Birks had recently bit the dust, so this was a great reminder to order another. I feel like the fun colors make wearing them look more intentional and less “my feet hurt so I put on my Birks.” Which I’m totally cool with normally, but I want to wear them with everything.
