As I mentioned in an earlier article, My 5 Most-Worn Pieces This Fall, I’m a girl who loves a uniform. Once I find a combination that works…I werk it.
But in all seriousness, having some sort of formula (these straight-leg jeans with this type of shoe) does help me get out the door faster, while still feeling like myself.
So this outfit isn’t anything ground-breaking, it just happens to be a cute twist on my usual fall outfit formula, and is made up of four pieces I highly recommend.
My Current Fall Uniform: Levi’s 501s + Ballet Flats + Fleece Jacket + Luxe Bag
There’s something about the combination of the easy, ripped jeans and ladylike flats that nails my style vibe exactly. And this base outfit, if we call it that, can support a number of different tops. A black cashmere sweater, as one example, would elevate this outfit a notch, making these ripped Levi’s look almost refined.
By adding a fleece jacket, however, I’m keeping the vibe of this outfit decidedly casual. And finishing this look with a nice bag — especially one that doesn’t quite “match” — both pulls the look together, while reinforcing the whole nonchalant, not-quite-dressed-up aesthetic.
Of course I wear fleece jackets with sweatpants and leggings…but when the fleece jacket is as cute as this Vuori one, why not mix it in with real clothes?
And by “real clothes” I mean jeans and actual shoes (not sneakers). The jeans I’m wearing are Levi’s 501’s that I ripped up myself (I’m sure most people are sick of hearing me talk about them) and the shoes are Everlane Day Glove Flats.
Two years ago, I did a full review of Everlane’s Day Glove Flats, calling them “shoes to walk a mile in” and I stand by that assessment. These are still the shoes I grab when I’m going to be doing a ton of walking, but don’t want to wear sneakers. I’m also impressed that they look as good as they do.
The fit of the Day Gloves are TTS (I’m wearing my usual, size 6.5), and the color I’m wearing is tan. These shoes come in a ton of colors…Linzi has both lime and ‘toasted almond’ (my next fav), but I’m also eyeing up that seriously gorgeous bright blue.
I’m sure we’ll start writing about some seriously exciting outfits soon (yay, holidays!), but wanted to highlight a few of my wardrobe workhorses, the pieces that are helping me get out the door faster, and just, ya know…do mah thing.
