Well, the turkey’s been cooked, the football’s been watched, and the pumpkin pie is gone. Know what that means?
It’s time to shop.
Presenting…The Ultimate Guide to Black Friday Sales.
First things first, you really need to check out our Shop Black Friday Page (also available via the dropdown menu). This page has:
- All of the dressing room selfies we’ve done over the last month (great for seeing what the clothes look like on real people).
- The full list of Editor Picks (our favorites from the Shopbop sale, best of Nordstrom sale, each contributor’s Black Friday wish list)
- A complete guide to shopping black friday, sorted by retailer.
Of course, if you just want to get shopping…scroll down. We copied our shopping guide below.
My own personal goal? To actually finish shopping (and wrapping gifts and, uh, mailing gifts #theWORST) before December hits. I have high hopes for a December filled with hot cocoa-and-movie nights (White Christmas, HOLLA), ice skating outdoors, and basically anything that Norman Rockwell would’ve pinned to Pinterest (ha!). But I’ll settle for some extra snuggles and better headspace than my usual frantic December self.
Cheers to a holiday season that is, hopefully, filled with joy and peace.

Abercrombie & Fitch – 40% OFF
If you haven’t checked out Abercrombie in a while…you’re in for a treat. The brand has completed reinvented itself and is now a TME team favorite for reliably cute sweaters, great coats (with a cool heritage vibe – think parkas with good details) , and shockingly good jeans. (In fact, Abercrombie’s denim for men is one of Mike’s favorites.) myAbercrombie members get 50% off the entire store right now and non-members get 40% off the entire store.
There are so many deals happening that it’s hard to keep track. Our best bets are listed below. (And if you’d like to see exactly WHY we’re so obsessed with Amazon’s Echo shows…here’s our article on why we think they’re the perfect gift.)
We love this sustainable retailer for their elevated basics. (The guys’ stuff is really good, too.) Happily, they’re doing 20% off of everything from Black Friday to Cyber Monday (and an additional 30% off anything already on sale).
Anthro certainly knows how to bring the holiday joy. From party tops to swoon-worthy dresses…it’s easy to forget that they’re also one of our favorite sources of jeans and winter accessories (seriously — they carry the cutest winter hats and mittens).
I somewhat recently discovered (or rediscovered) Athleta’s workout leggings, and they’ve quickly become some of my favorites. I love the inclusive sizing, and their (admittedly small) foray into sustainable products. The colors this season are particularly good….hello, oxblood.
Banana Republic – 50% OFF EVERYTHING
Banana Republic, masters of subtle-chic, should’t be underestimated. And we’re seriously thrilled with their new crop of party pieces!! Best of all? The Black Friday sale has NO BR Merchandise exclusions.
Bloomingdale’s is one of our little-known secrets for scoring designer denim on sale. Stock tends to sell pretty quickly, though, so we’ve found it’s better to not hesitate. (And Bloomingdales has an amazing 365-day return policy, as well as free shipping AND free return shipping so there’s that.) Bloomingdale’s sales are always confusing (and change almost daily)…but right now take $25 off every $150 you spend.
Use code H7N3. If you guys remember Linzi’s puffer coat post, you’ll know Boden. They’re killing it with puffers right now and we’re all eyeing a few.
You can use the code BF19. If you’ve been reading this website for a while, you likely have noticed me raving (and raving and raving) about Colleen Rothschild’s skincare. The top row (below) is my exact nighttime routine I’ve been using for years.
Our entire team loves Dyson products for home and beauty. See Linzi’s review of Dyson’s latest vacuum here. (And stay tuned for an Airwrap review…)
If you’re looking for a break from the usual Black Friday madness…try Everlane. For each purchase made on Black Friday, Everlane will donate $10 from every order to Oceana, with the goal of raising $300,000.
We especially love Express for their affordable, party-ready pieces. (And if you’re considering a sequin showstopper, they have those, too. Scotti’s fav.)
Use code FORTY to get 40% off. Gap has recently come back on our radar for it’s cute, affordable and surprisingly on-point options.
H&M has been getting better & better. The quality of the pieces are typically really good, and we’re thrilled that they’re continuing to expand their conscious (aka more eco-friendly) collection. (ps. H&M is our first stop for little boy suits. They’re machine washable, and look great no matter how many times they get washed.)
Intermix is pricy…but when there’s a sale…it’s usually GOOD. This is the only place I’ve ever found my beloved IRO leather jackets on sale. You also get $50 off every $250 spent right now.
You can use code WHYWAIT. Not only does J.Crew do the fun little holiday top really, really well (affordably, too)…but their sweaters, coats, denim and trousers are all team favorites.
Our favorites from LOFT are all about texture. We’re talkin’ velvet everything, furry slippers, cozy sweaters with shimmer…and if you come across “flecked” sweaters (or dresses), look closely – it’s GOOD.
If you need SERIOUS winter coats for SERIOUS cold…. Lolë rocks at this game. They manage to make the most lightweight puffers I’ve ever had the pleasure of wearing…without losing an ounce of warmth. Add to this a thoughtful selection of technical clothing disguised as real clothes…I’m a die hard fan.
If there’s a piece that’s sold out everywhere else…we’ve had luck finding it at Lord & Taylor. This retailer carries all of the brands we know and love, but have some pretty incredible sales. Right take 50-80% off anything labeled “smart steals”, $20 off beauty with code ‘BEAUTY’, and take an extra 50% off clearance. (ps. Their in-house cashmere is Scotti’s fav….)
In addition to the usual suspects…Macy’s is my secret weapon for finding Free People or Levis on sale. Scotti also has her eye on the picks below….You can use code BLKFRI.
We’re pretty die-hard Madewell fans over here. The jeans are a team fav, as well as the cute sweaters. This is the stuff we really do wear every day. Use code “STARTEARLY”.
This sustainable fashion brands makes – and I take these words verrrry seriously – THE BEST cashmere sweaters on the planet. Best. Gift. Ever. See my full review, here. Use code BF30 to take 30% off almost everything (through Sunday).
The Net-a-Porter sale is always good…so the 15% off is just icing on the cake.
Get excited – this sale gets bigger every year.
Parachute Home – 20% OFF EVERYTHING
This sale doesn’t actually start until Black Friday, but it’s too good to miss! Parachute Home, if you haven’t yet tried them, makes my all-time favorite bedding. It’s….delicious.
You can use code TAKE25. Still some of my most-worn denim, rag & bone has been a longtime favorite of mine. Their high-rise skinnies are my favs – they stay up without squeezing my stomach uncomfortably – and nobody does the washed black rinse quite like rag & bone.
Almost all of my favorite dresses this year have come from sustainable fashion brand Reformation. They’re masters of the subtly sexy, girl-next-door vibe.
Shopbop is one of my very favorite sites. They typically have the most interesting twists on basics, and carry all of my favorite brands. Their big sales (like this one) are not to be missed. Use code MORE19 to take 15% off purchases of $200 or more, 20% off purchases over $500, and 25% off purchases over $800. Good through Cyber Monday.
Shop Buru – 50% OFF Selected Items
My friend Morgan launched Shop Buru several years ago, specifically to give Moms better shopping options. She’s evolved, over the years, into designing her own line and it’s SO freaking fun.
Sorels: The boots I’ve been wearing since 1980. True story. (And their new stuff – like the winter boot/sneaker hybrid below are some of my most-worn.)
Every year Splendid comes out with a few pieces that are absolute perfection. They nail the shape, the color palette, and, of course, the softness. You can use code SALE40.
Sweaty Betty is my go-to place for ski pants, base layers, socks, etc. They also have really good workout clothes, too, but I’m all about the ski stuff. Use code CHEERS to take 30% off everything.
The North Face – 25% OFF (select styles)
I wait all year to stock up on rain coats, winter coats, and fleece for the kiddos.
This is a new retailer, and we are OBSESSED. Verishop is like a really well-edited (read: easy to shop) version of Shopbop / Nordstrom. They have products for women, men, kids, beauty and home, and it looks literally like everything I want (or have) in my closet. They offer free 1-day shipping and free returns. I suspect this is going to become one of my go-tos.
The sale starts 11/29 at 12am and goes through 12/2 till 11:59pm. Spend $100 get 10% off using code TAKE10 (First 20 orders receive a free piece of crystal jewelry). Spend $300 get 20% off and using code TAKE20 (First 20 orders receive a free piece of bone and bead jewelry). Spend $500 get 30% off with code TAKE30 (First 20 orders receive a free piece of diamond jewelry).
AHHHH West Elm is one of those places that make me want ALL THE THINGS. And their Black Friday sales are especially fun. (And dangerous. Verrrrry dangerous.) Their sale starts at 15% off $150 or more with code SAVEMORE (then climbs to 20% off $500, 25% off $1,000, and 30% off $3,500).
Ok, if you don’t yet have a Nespresso, it is a GAME CHANGER. Laura swears by the Instapot, only a crazy person doesn’t want that Le Cruset dutch oven and that take-along crock pot will be MINE.
And now a little something for the Pinners…
