I almost bought that Philip Lim for Target dress. The one that looks like a long sweatshirt over a skirt? (I featured it in yesterday's collage.) But Mike was lukewarm about the whole thing, and admittedly the fit was strange. So I skipped it, only to re-create it with pieces I had at home.
And I think I like this...
Well. Chemo #2 is over and done and recovered from. Mostly. I'm fine, just exhausted. It's crazy how tired I get doing....well...anything, really. But I'm happy to report that round two was better than round one. Reducing the pre-chemo steroids was sanity-saving. And with two boys under six, any remaining shard of sanity must be preserved.
I think I'm...
This short little haircut has served me well. But it's thinned to the point that I have major bald spots on the top of my head, and can't leave the house without a hat. If you follow me on Instagram, you may remember seeing the ginormous clump of hair that fell out this morning. UGH. There is hair on...
Time to raid your guy's closet Mamas! Here are a few fun ways to rock the menswear trend:
Wear a Tie
I've done this before....but I'm currently obsessing over Mike's skinnier, more casual knit tie. Love it with my flannel shirts and shiny loafers.
wearing:
shirt: old J.Crew....similar here
tie: J.Crew Men
bag: Moop's Paperback bag
jeans: Rag and Bone The Skinny
shoes: Aerosoles (on sale for...
If you follow me on Instagram (@shanachristine), you know that my hair started falling out last night. I have a feeling that these next few days? weeks? will be the strangest of my life. It's kinda like post-partum shedding, but more. And if I reach up and give a little tug, I can pull out a tiny clump.
Which...
Well. Two things I never thought I'd be discussing together: Cancer...and NY Fashion Week. But there it is.
First up...hair. After a long (mostly internal) debate...I decided to cut my hair in stages. It's coming out anyway, in a matter of weeks. In fact, by the time most of you are reading this, I'm probably down at Penn getting my...
Ok, Mamas. First things first. Wanna see my new boobs?
Their perkiness is beyond my wildest dreams. I may never need a bra again! I mean YES - the shirt is strategically covering a whole mess of bandages and scars and my one remaining nipple is sorta facing the wrong direction....but all of that is fixable in time. Pretty cleavage...
What a wild ride this past week has been. But despite the crappy news, we are all doing OK. Like...honestly OK. And Mike and I both have been blown away by the love and support we've received from family, friends, and you. It's funny, so many of your comments start with, "I know we don't know each other but...
The last month have included some of the darkest days of my life. Days where the pain and the sorrow and the confusion go on, seemingly without end. And the helplessness, the utter helplessness. I can't use my arms for virtually anything, and mentally...well. The realization of how little of life is within our control - the minutiae at best...
Great news, Mamas! Shana is out of surgery and in recovery. She underwent a double mastectomy this morning and everything went as well as these things can. S's doctors tested a number of lymph nodes and they believe, with 90-95 percent accuracy, that the cancer has not spread. A full biopsy of the removed tissue is necessary, but what...
