A lot of you have requested more styling ideas for the faux-leather SPANX leggings that I’ve had — and loved — for years now. You’ve seen me pair them with sweater dresses and knee-high boots, with mini dresses and over-the-knee boots, and Shana and I even did a video on how to style them for the holidays back in 2017 (gotta love those hair extensions).
So…am I still wearing them?
Yup. Sure am. With all of the ways listed above, along with a few new takes. My current favorite? An all-black outfit with an oversized blazer and knee-high stovepipe boots.

I’m obsessed with this Madewell blazer. It’s double-breasted, which is typically a style my pear-shaped body doesn’t do well with. But in this case, the drape and slightly oversized fit work perfectly. It doesn’t pull across the hips/butt (even when buttoned), and the shoulders aren’t overwhelmingly big.

Plus, it’s soft and easier to move in than most rigid blazers. You guys may have heard me wax poetic about TENCEL lyocell before (like in this post about the pants I never want to take off) because it’s such a good fabric. Aside from the fact that it’s super soft and lightweight, it’s also sustainable. I always know I’m going to love the feel of whatever pieces are made with it.

The easiest way to layer between the faux-leather leggings and the blazer is to add a mini dress — and I’ve been looking for a way to wear this one in cooler weather. I wore it with cowboy boots and a jean jacket this summer in Nashville and loved the easy fit and sexy slit.
It works perfectly over the SPANX leggings because it’s not super-tight and adds just a bit of length to the blazer if you’re worried about bum coverage.

I’m loving the stovepipe-boots trend right now! Wide-calf boots that go straight up to the knee feel really fresh right now, especially with a stiletto heel. They’re the perfect way to freshen up faux-leather leggings (although a pair of Air Force 1s would do it too, if that’s more your jam).

And, of course, I’m still loving — LOVING — my YSL bag. It was such a splurge that I’d debated on for (literally) years, but it brings me joy every time I wear it. I love the matte black on black on black. This bag goes with everything from distressed jeans to formal dresses and carries everything I need, like credit cards, cash, my phone and lip gloss. ❤️
